"42st Fashion"
is a junior fashion store that has operated successfully in Brooks Alberta. for many years. Noreen Lange is the owner operator.

 

Noreen what made you decide to purchase a Point of Sale system after these many years in business?

I knew for quite sometime that I needed to have better inventory control but my lack of experience with computers made it a difficult decision for me. I had a lot of anxiety about how to do it and then my daughter who is very good with computers made the decision to move here and work with me. That was the push I needed to get going on it.

 

Why Microsoft Retail Management System?

Well it’s a name we all know of course and since most businesses are using Microsoft Software of one type or another it seemed like the best place to start. We are in a small town here and I knew we were not going to find anybody local to help us so we searched the internet and found Retail Management Systems Ltd. They were able to demonstrate the software remotely for us by connecting us to their screen and we could see how easy the system was to use. We felt very comfortable with the team there and that removed our last obstacle to making a choice. The pricing was well within budget and they were able to supply everything for us and ship it to us pretty much ready to go.

 

How has the process of installation and training gone?

As I mentioned my daughter took the lead on this and once she learned the system she has taught me and we have been doing great since the first day. We had 8 hours of training and installation time budgeted and we have kept within that time frame so I think that is pretty good considering we didn’t know anything about POS when we started.

We are able to create our styles very quickly and get labels on them using the matrix management tools with RMS and this is really important for us. We decided to just use generic codes for our past season inventory and this allowed us to focus on the incoming season and get it all labeled as well as setting the whole system up and start using it right away.

 

How would you describe your overall experience so far?

We have only been using the system for a few weeks but it is amazing that it is far less complicated than we had imagined. We were nervous of course that we did not have anyone on sight with us but as it turned out that was really not necessary and saved us a lot of money as well. We have a lot confidence in the support team at RMS and they have helped us every step of the way. It is reassuring to know that they can connect to us in seconds if we have questions.
