Business Profile:
“Isis Fashion” is a new ladies fashion boutique located in a brand new strip mall near West Edmonton Mall in Edmonton Alberta. The owner Colleen Sims wanted to have an attractive and contemporary store located right in the neighborhood where her upscale customers live.
Since this is your first venture into retail what was the process of choosing RMS?
We wanted to give ourselves some lead time before opening the store to have the right system in place so we did a lot of research on POS. When we found out that Microsoft had a Point of Sale solution this basically brought our search to an end. We found the guys at RMS from their web site and knowing that they were Microsoft certified partners gave us the confidence to go ahead. We were working on a very carefully thought out budget to open the store and Microsoft fell very comfortably within our budget. We were able to have the system completely set up a ready to go with time to spare by the time opening day came. This greatly reduced the stress of opening.
What have been the main assets of having Microsoft RMS in place since you opened the store a year ago?
Every receipt from the first transaction has been recorded in RMS so I can view and print at any time. Our financial information is captured daily in detail and sent over to QB so we don’t have to spend time manually trying to figure out what is happening. Reports are awesome in that we can filter what we want exactly and then memorize a report and rerun it as required. The reports are dynamic meaning we can drag columns, add or delete columns all on the fly and the report is adjusted instantly. The day to day use of the system is easy and all staff were very quickly comfortable. We are able to effectively manage size, color inventory even down to the level of a size performance report so we know what to order.
Do you feel that your original decision was the correct one?
Yes for sure. We know that Microsoft will continue to develop RMS and we look forward to future versions with even better features and benefits. It is hard to imagine how we could have done what we have without this system.
