Business Profile:
"Outlaw Fashion" is a long established Fashion and clothing retailer in Quesnel B.C. With many thousands of customers from the area. The store had been operated with cash registers since start up. Vera, the owner was increasingly becoming aware of her need for inventory control and better customer tracking.
How did you decide on Microsoft Retail Management System for your Point of Sale solution?
We were very nervous about getting the right system since we had little experience with software and hardware. We had heard of RMS in speaking to other retailers and we decided that we wanted to take a serious look at it. We sourced the guys at Retail Management Systems from their web site and arranged an online demo. The system appeared to do everything we needed and more so we held our breath and took the plunge. Much to our relief the installation went well and we managed to get the system up and running in reasonable time.
What are some of the unique features that you have found in RMS?
Well hands down the “CustomerSearch” function takes the prize. The ability to add a new customer instantly from an internet database has made a huge difference to our ability to track customer purchases and maintain better service to our customers.
The ability to effectively manage apparel inventory with up to 3 dimensions has to be mentioned as well. To see what we have on hand in any size and color as well as report on it is fantastic.
What would you say overall about your experience with Microsoft RMS?
At a year and some down the road it is hard to understand how we managed without the kind of information we have available now. Every move forward in a business has some growth pains associated with it and this was no different, however there was nothing we were not able to deal with and the result has been well worth the effort.
The system is easy to use for staff, very adaptable and has a lot of very useful features.
I think that any retailer who is serious about competing in today’s retail environment has to have a good POS system and we think we certainly made the right choice with Microsoft. The guys at RMS have been great and are there when we need them.
