John what prompted you to investigate Microsoft Retail Management System?
We had originally purchased Quick Books POS a couple of years ago and we tried to do the best with it although it did not work well for apparel inventory. When Quick Books stopped supporting their POS product we knew we were going to have to move on.
I called Microsoft since I knew some retailers in the mall were using it. They had their business partner Retail Management Systems call us and I reviewed the software with them and really liked what I saw.
How did the conversion process go?
We considered importing our QB database but since it was so easy to create styles in RMS we abandoned that idea quickly. I was amazed that I could create a whole size and color range of shirt in seconds. We were able to get up and running very quickly with minimal help. Since the system is so easy to use in the Point of Sale I was able to learn it myself and show the staff in a matter of minutes.
Do you feel you made the right decision?
Yes absolutely. We are able to figure out most things ourselves and have required very little help. When we do have a question the support has been excellent and we certainly don’t have to worry about Microsoft discontinuing the software.
